I’ve written before that I don’t find display casebacks necessary at lower price points. I get that can come off as snobbery; I remember the first Fossil I got that allowed me to see the movement as a kid and it made me feel like I had the most expensive watch in the world. But once you know enough to know what you’re looking for in a watch or looking at in a movement, sometimes the watch would be better – thinner, cleaner, less disappointing – without a display caseback.
